This 18th century thatched cottage hideaway is an intoxicating mix of the old and new where 21st century luxuries are artfully combined with original features to create a stunning place to stay. Rose Cottage is the perfect family retreat.

So much to discover! From the fantastic private hot tub in the secluded garden to the 2 person copper bath, games, toys and Dvds to the sound system and 3D TV, there is something to delight all ages in every room :) Toasted marshmallows on the log fire anyone?

When those little heads begin to nod - tuck them in the Egyptian cotton sheets on the double bed in the 2nd bedroom and relax… Time for the two of you to enjoy everything this romantic cottage has to offer - Bliss!

Potter about and chill out in this stunning cottage or if you can tear yourselves away why not explore the amazing area that is North Devon and Exmoor! Incredible beaches, walks, child friendly attractions, activities, picnics, fantastic pubs, cafés and restaurants and so much ancient village dates back to Saxon times and has 2 Inns (one nearby), a post office that sells basic essentials, and a golf course. Within easy driving distance of both Exmoor and Dartmoor, and just 30 minutes from the rugged North Devon coastline there is plenty to explore.

Useful Information.......

Rose Cottage is the ideal cottage for families of all ages, to help we have included the following items.

Cot & High Chair: The travel cot comes with a luxury mattress but please bring your own bedding

Potty Training : The cottage includes a potty and step for younger ones learning to use the toilet

Bedrooms : The master bedroom offers a huge super king bed and room for a cot. Alternatively the cot can go in the hall way or second bedroom. The second bedroom is located on the ground floor at the rear of the cottage. Need bed guards? Just ask and we can organise these for you.

Toys and More : We have included a selection of toys, books and DVDs as well as a Netflix account to stream your kids favourite programmes

Log Fire : The wood burning log fire in the cottage is protected by a fire guard.

Kitchen : These is a full kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and more as well as plastic plates, bowls and cutlery.

Babysitters : local qualified babysitters for a romantic night out that are both come highly recommended.

The Big Sheep
A great day out suitable for family fun for all ages, our Rampage Roller coaster is great for thrill seekers, little ones will love our animal barn and pets’ corner, and our adult visitors will love our on-site brewery and gin distillery.

RHS Rosemoor
Located only a 10 minute from Rose Cottage, Its a must to enjoy a day out at the beautiful RHS Garden Rosemoor in North Devon. Join in the fun with all year round events. Free to RHS Members. Excellent children's facilities including 2 play parks.

Exmoor Zoo
A small zoo with lots to do from feeding the Wallabies and Alpacas to bouncing on the trampolines in the play park. Located in the middle of Exmoor National Park.

The Milky Way
The North Devon Family Attraction to suit all ages, whatever the weather. North Devons largest indoor adventure play with assault courses built for both big and little kids. Amazing live shows featuring Merlin from Britains Got Talent and displays for the North Devon Bird of Prey centre. Located near closely, between Bideford and Bude. It offers a fabulous day out for the whole family.

We are exceedingly lucky to have a fabulous selection of great places to eat out in North Devon. Here are just a few that are ideal for families and something different.

The Old George High Bickington ,Tel. 01769 561513 - located opposite Rose Cottage this local village pub is very child friendly and does so lovely food!

The Pierhouse
Westward Ho! EX39 1JU, Tel. 01237 477777 - A restaurant with an amazing view and a very nice carvery on Sunday, great children's menu and smaller portions. Ideal small arcade underneath during the summer months for children of all ages. Booking essential.

Pig on the hill
Westward Ho! EX39 5AH, Tel. 01237 459222 - Offering a childrens playground and animals as we as a little 'piglets' menu, The Pig on the hill is a great location for a lunchtime drink and tasty bite to eat.

The New Inn
Roborough, EX19 8EY, Tel 01805 6023247 - With a beer garden and only a short drive from Rose Cottage it's a great place to hide in summer and winter with a roaring log fire. Lovely Sunday lunches and a great selection of gins!

Beachside Grill
Saunton Sands, EX33 1LQ - Located on the beach at Saunton Sands it's an ideal location after a day on the beach or just to watch the world go by with an amazing view. Fantastic children's menu.


Surfing - It's difficult to visit North Devon and not enjoy the fabulous beaches, why not try something that you will always remember! North Devon Surf School offers Surfing lessons for children and adults 8 to 80!

Crabbing lines are readily available to buy for a couple of pounds at Appledore, but they can provide hours, if not days, of fun. Appledore holds its World Crabbing Contest every year – so get your practice in now! Choose your bait of choice – we go for bacon – drop your line over the side and see who can hook the most crabs.

Rock Pooling - From Welcombe Mouth to Woolacombe, North Devon has many rocky beaches teeming with fascinating wildlife. Take your fishing net and search for crabs, starfish and many other wonderful rock pool creatures this summer. More Info

Inflatable Park - Race, slide, and chase each other around our course, trying to beat everyone in a total wipe out style and try to beat our lifeguards course record times. North Devon's Aqua-park is an outdoor water based activity on our lake, making it a unique adventure for all of the family with our minimum age being 5 to partake. More Info

Take a picnic in the park! - Pack up some sandwiches, cakes, biscuits and some cans of fizzy pop and head down to one of North Devon’s parks. Rock Park in Barnstaple offers grass and plenty of impressive trees to sit under; Victoria Park in Bideford has a shallow pool for youngsters to play in, or lay a picnic blanket on the green in Westward Ho! and look out over the blue ocean.
